My first Mother’s Day

I feel so lucky for the life that I have. I woke up to Jayden crawling towards me with a big smile on his face. I slept on the floor of his room and opened my teary eyes distraught from the night before. I had a rough and emotional day the day before Mother’s day, so when I carried Jayden to the living room and saw this set up, it made my heart feel so warm and full. This past Sunday was my first official Mother’s Day. Jay did a really good job trying to make sure I felt special, so we drove to Sunrise Coffee, my favorite coffee shop, and I got to pick up an iced oatmilk latte and a twisted chocolate croissant. We walked around a park we’ve never been to and Jayden got to watch the little ducklings crossing our path. We stopped by my parents house so I can see my Mom today. We talked to them while we were in the car and my parents got to see Jayden, which is always nice but also makes me sad because we don’t want to pass on anything to them as a precaution. When we got home, Jay picked up sushi rolls for lunch because I’ve been craving it since this quarantine started. Overall, I felt really loved and I wouldn’t trade this life for anything else. These last 10 months have been really challenging adapting to being a new mom, but I feel like I gained so much strength through it. I just hope and strive to be the kind of person Jayden would be proud to call his mom.

Sushi craving satisfied.
